The tensile strength of ARP L19 rod bolts is approximately 260,000 to 280,000 psi, which makes them significantly stronger than standard 8740 alloy bolts. This high tensile strength allows the bolts to handle extreme stress in high-performance and racing engines, reducing the risk of failure under high loads, during intense acceleration, and during hard slowdown due to a piston starting to stick and the motor tightening up. This helps avoid a more catastrophic failure where the stock rod bolt might break and cause the rod to whip around and more heavily damage the block and crank.
