At elevated RPM, piston stability, ring control, and weight become critical factors in engine reliability. Wizard 9999 pistons are manufactured from high-strength forged aluminum and feature a race-proven design that combines durability with reduced reciprocating mass.
Each piston is forged, top-pinned, CNC-lightened, dynamically balanced, and performance coated to reduce friction, minimize skirt wear, and improve thermal stability. The pistons also feature race-cut crown geometry optimized for high-performance Mercury Racing applications.
The included lightweight wrist pins further reduce reciprocating weight, while top-located ring pins help maintain proper ring positioning during prolonged high-RPM operation.
Dual-Ring Performance Design
Unlike many drag-racing piston packages that utilize a single-ring configuration, the Wizard 9999 dual-ring design provides additional ring stability, improved sealing characteristics, and extended service life for many racing and recreational performance applications.
For Nikasil-plated cylinders, the pistons are supplied with premium dual gold rings. For steel-sleeve engines, dual chrome-faced ring packages are available to provide proper compatibility and durability against iron cylinder surfaces.
This combination allows builders to select the appropriate piston-and-ring package for their specific engine configuration while maintaining the benefits of a modern forged racing piston.

Designed for standard-bore steel-sleeved Mercury 2.5-liter engines. Includes forged pistons, dual chrome-faced rings, lightweight wrist pins, and circlips.
.030" Over Steel Sleeve Kit
Designed for Mercury 2.5-liter steel-sleeve engines bored .030-inch oversize. This option is ideal for rebuilds that require cylinder cleanup after wear, damage, or prior service work.
Complete Six-Cylinder Kit
Each Wizard 9999 kit includes six forged pistons, twelve piston rings, six lightweight wrist pins, and twelve circlips. Every component is engineered to work together as a complete six-cylinder package, simplifying assembly while maintaining consistency across all cylinders.
