How to Use the Universal Gear Lube Pump Kit
 
Follow these simple steps to change your gear oil efficiently:
 
1. Prepare Your Workspace
Position your boat or engine on a level surface.
Place a drain pan or bucket under the lower unit to catch old gear lube.
 
2. Remove the Drain and Vent Plugs
Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the lower unit and the vent plug higher up.
Remove the drain plug first, followed by the vent plug. Let the old gear lube drain completely.
 
3. Inspect the Drained Gear Lube
Check for signs of water (milky appearance) or metal shavings that might indicate internal damage.
Replace drain plug washers if necessary.
 
4. Attach the Gear Lube Pump
Select the appropriate adapter from the kit and attach it to the pump's nozzle.
Securely connect the adapter to the drain hole in the lower unit and attach the pump to your quart or liter bottle of gear lube.
 
5. Pump the Gear Lube
Pump the gear oil into the lower unit until it flows steadily out of the vent hole, ensuring the gearcase is full.
 
6. Reinstall the Vent Plug
While keeping the pump attached to the drain hole, reinstall the vent plug to prevent backflow.
 
7. Reinstall the Drain Plug
Detach the pump and quickly reinstall the drain plug, tightening it securely.
 
8. Clean Up
Wipe off any excess oil from the lower unit and properly dispose of used gear lube.
