Drive your boat safer by driving it like your car. This is the one and only TH-Marine HOT FOOT™ throttle - the original boat foot throttle that has been on the market for 30+ years and is now updated with improved operation and foot comfort.
- Provides added safety and performance
- Improves throttle control for all outboard and inboards
- Lightweight and resistant to corrosion
- Stainless steel hardware and nonsticking teflon and nylon bearing surfaces for trouble-free operation
- Nylon and Teflon bushings on all critical pivot points
- Stainless steel spring returns engine to idle position when released
- Equipped with toe clip for additional safety in extreme operating conditions
- Uses standard control cables for easy hook-up (longer throttle cable not included)
- Mounts directly to the floor of your boat with four screws (not included)
- Patented Idle Stop for FICHT and Optimax Engines
This throttle allows you to drive your boat like you do your car. You keep both hands on the wheel and control the throttle with your foot. The throttle returns to idle if you remove your foot. This throttle is a must-have for safe operation of race and high-performance boats.

HOT FOOT™ FOOT THROTTLE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS HF-1 – Universal Model (Fits Most Outboards)
NOTE: The Hot Foot will require a throttle cable that is 2 feet longer than the shift cable. Remove the throttle cable from the engine and replace it with a cable approximately 2 feet longer.
STEP 1 – Select Mounting Location in Boat
- Choose a mounting location that is comfortable for the boat operator and install the mounting screws (not provided).
- Be careful not to penetrate the boat hull with a drill or mounting hardware.
- Ensure the mounting location allows for smooth cable routing without sharp bends that could cause binding or friction.
STEP 2 – Select Cable Location by Engine Type
Mercury (Except Gen II)
- Insert the throttle cable trunnion into the upper trunnion holder on the side plate.
- Install a cotter pin to retain the trunnion and bend the end of the cotter pin to keep it in place.
Honda, Mercury Gen II, Suzuki, or Pull Type Throttle Using 3300 Series Cable
- Position the cable so that the cable clamp (see Fig 1) fits into the groove in the trunnion area of the cable.
- Replace the clamp and screws onto the side plate.
- Secure the cable end (see Fig 2) onto the cable slide and tighten the lock nut against the cable end.
Yamaha, Chrysler, or Push Type Throttle Using 3300 Series Cable
- Position the cable so that the cable clamp (see Fig 1) fits into the groove in the trunnion area of the cable.
- Replace the clamp and screws onto the side plate.
- Secure the cable end (see Fig 2) onto the cable slide and tighten the lock nut against the cable end.
OMC
- Insert the throttle cable trunnion into the lower trunnion holder on the side plate.
- Install a cotter pin to retain the trunnion and bend the end of the cotter pin to keep it in place.
STEP 3 – Attach Cable to Pivot Arm of Hot Foot
- Install a 1/4-20 x 3/4" bolt through the cable end.
- Thread the 1/4-20 nut onto the bolt and screw it into the upper end of the pivot arm (Honda, Suzuki, Mercury Gen II) or the lower end of the pivot arm (OMC, Yamaha, Chrysler) until the bolt is flush with the back side of the pivot arm.
- Tighten the hex nut to lock the assembly in place.
STEP 4 – Adjust Throttle Stops and Spring Tension
- Manually operate the Hot Foot throttle to check if the cable operation is smooth and the travel is adequate for full throttle and idle.
- If full throttle is not achieved, remove the two hex head bolts on the side plate (Fig 3) and move the back.
- Depress the throttle to the full throttle position and adjust the pedal stop. Lock it in place.
- Recheck the throttle to ensure the engine throttle linkage stops are at maximum travel for both idle and full throttle.
- Adjust the spring tension as needed for smooth pedal return when released.
Maintenance Note: Periodically lubricate all moving parts and pivot points with quality marine lubricant.
