The 3.125-inch lower unit stud, previously Mercury part number 16-78638 2 and now replaced by 8M2016987, measures 3.125 inches in end-to-end length. The 3.688-inch lower unit stud, originally Mercury part number 16-18978 3, is now available from Buckshot Racing as the longest or Extra Long 3-11/16" Mounting Stud. This extra-long variant offers increased engagement depth and clamping force, making it ideal for high-load or custom performance marine applications where additional reach is critical.
