The Mercury 3-Cylinder and 4-Cylinder Replacement Lower Units from Buckshot Racing #77 are brand-new aftermarket gearcases manufactured by Sterndrive Engineering, Inc.
 
These complete lower units are designed to replace worn, damaged, corroded or failed Mercury gearcases without rebuilding the original unit.
 
Available configurations include 2.07:1 and 2.33:1 gear ratios, with 20-inch and 25-inch shaft lengths for compatible carbureted two-stroke, DFI two-stroke, FourStroke and BigFoot applications.

Choosing the Correct Lower Unit
 
Replaces most Mercury 3 & 4 Cylinder, 2-Stroke 1987 and newer 70-125 HP. Also replaces most 75-115 HP 4-Stroke outboards below Serial #OT801000.
 
Before ordering, verify the engine type, shaft length, and original gear ratio. A 2-Stroke Carb, 2-Stroke DFI, FourStroke, and BigFoot lower unit may use different driveshaft, shift-shaft, or gearcase configurations, so horsepower alone should not be used to determine fitment.
 
For a normal replacement, it is best to match the original 2.07:1 or 2.33:1 gear ratio. Changing gear ratio can affect acceleration, propeller selection, and wide-open-throttle RPM.
Brand-New Replacement Gearcases
 
These lower units are brand new, not rebuilt or remanufactured. Sterndrive Engineering, Inc. provides a complete replacement option for Mercury owners who do not want to rebuild an older gearcase with damaged gears, bearings, shafts or housings.
 
3-Year No-Fault Warranty
 
New, unmodified Sterndrive Engineering, Inc. lower units include a 3-year no-fault manufacturer warranty, subject to current warranty terms.
 
Modifying the water pickups, nose cone, housing or other components can void the warranty.
Commercial, professional, competition and racing use can also void warranty coverage.

Before installation, compare the new lower unit with the original and verify the shaft length, gear ratio, driveshaft and shift-shaft configuration.
 
This is also a good time to inspect the anodes, mounting hardware, water-tube seals and propeller hardware.
