The Buckshot Racing #77 Custom Mercury Driveshaft lineup is built for compatible Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing 2-stroke outboards using 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L, 3.0L, and 3.2L powerheads. These driveshafts are available in multiple lengths and bearing configurations for classic fishing gearcases, FleetMaster, CLE, and SportMaster lower units.
Each shaft is a high-quality aftermarket replacement for selected Mercury / Quicksilver driveshafts, including applications associated with 45-848449A4 and 8M0192233, along with related single- and double-bearing gearcase families. These are newly fabricated custom driveshafts.
Friction-Welded Bimetal Construction
The driveshafts are built using a friction-welded bimetal design combining 8620 alloy steel with 17-4PH stainless steel at the upper section exposed to moisture and the marine environment.
The 8620 alloy section provides the strength and wear characteristics needed through the gearcase and bearing areas, while the 17-4PH stainless upper section offers improved corrosion resistance where the shaft is exposed inside the midsection.
This construction provides a strong combination of durability, corrosion resistance, and service life for both recreational and high-performance Mercury applications.

Single- vs. Double-Bearing Driveshafts
Mercury used both single-bearing and double-bearing driveshaft arrangements depending on gearcase family, engine size, and production configuration.
Buckshot Racing #77 offers both styles, so the shaft can be matched to the actual lower unit being used.
Do not assume a shaft will interchange based on length alone. Correct fitment depends on engine family, driveshaft length, and bearing arrangement.

These custom driveshafts support a wide range of classic Mercury V6 lower units used behind 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L, 3.0L, and 3.2L two-stroke powerheads.
Applications include compatible fishing and performance gearcases such as FleetMaster, CLE, and SportMaster, along with other Mercury lower units using the same shaft dimensions and bearing architecture.
Because many older Mercury Racing engines have been converted between 15", 20" and 25" midsections or fitted with different gearcases over the years, the engine model alone does not determine driveshaft fitment. The actual lower unit and bearing arrangement are the most important identifiers.
