The Prop Cover from Buckshot Racing #77 is a practical safety cover used to identify and shield exposed propellers in race pits, service areas, on ramps, and around boats during maintenance or staging. It serves primarily as a visual deterrent, helping to prevent accidental contact with sharp propeller blades.
Function and Application
This cover is designed for temporary use on stationary or trailered boats. It fits securely over the propeller using an elastic retention band and is available in two size ranges:
For propellers up to 12 inches in diameter
For propellers up to 15 inches in diameter
It is suitable for smaller outboard race motors through larger outboards, including Mercury, Mariner, OMC, Yamaha, and Suzuki models. The cover provides light surface coverage to reduce incidental contact and marks the propeller area clearly when a boat is in the pits, on a trailer, or dockside.
The cover is made from a marine-grade synthetic composite with a flexible outer shell and a soft inner surface. The material reduces the chance of light cuts, moisture, UV exposure, and abrasion. It is intended for visual marking and general handling safety, not for impact or long-term storage protection.
Installation and Handling
Care should be taken when fitting or removing the cover, as sharp propeller edges CAN cut the material. The cover stretches over the propeller blades and holds in place with elastic tension. It can be removed quickly before launching or servicing. The material can be wiped clean. Avoid bleach or high heat to maintain elasticity.
Optional Markings
Optional decorative decals are available for identification or appearance, including:
Buckshot Racing #77
Mercury Marine
Lake X
None
These decals are cosmetic and may detach with extended use or exposure to fuel and water.
The Prop Cover from Buckshot Racing #77 provides a simple and reliable way to mark propeller locations and reduce the risk of contact injuries in outboard race hot pits, boat ramps, and marine service work areas. It is lightweight, reusable, and suitable for both professional and recreational use where clear visual marking is required.
