The Race Boat Safety Pull-Pin Canopy Hinge Kit is a purpose-built quick-release hinge system for racing canopies, safety capsules, hatches and panels that must remain securely hinged during operation while still allowing rapid release in an emergency.

316 Marine-Grade Stainless Construction
The hinge and backing plates are manufactured from machined 316 stainless steel, providing strong corrosion resistance for freshwater and saltwater racing environments.
The backing plates help distribute hinge loads across a larger section of the canopy or cockpit structure instead of concentrating the load around individual fasteners.
Aerospace Quick-Release Pull Pin
The system uses an aerospace stainless quick-release pin designed for push/pull release and drive-out removal. This gives rescue personnel more than one way to release the hinge if the canopy structure has been damaged.
The pin also incorporates a pull ring for positive grip. A secondary ring allows it to be connected to a short safety lanyard so the pin remains attached to the boat after removal instead of being dropped or lost during an emergency.

This hinge system is designed for high-performance marine applications where secure operation and rapid canopy or panel removal are required.
Typical applications include Formula 1 tunnel boats, UIM and APBA tunnel boats, hydroplane safety capsules, offshore racing canopies, reinforced cockpit lids, engine hatches, entry doors and removable hatch covers.

For APBA, H1, Formula 1 or other sanctioned competition, the complete cockpit and canopy installation—not just the hinge—must meet the current rules for that class.
Installation and Safety
The hinge should be mounted to a structurally reinforced section of the canopy and cockpit using appropriate backing plates so loads are distributed into the surrounding structure.
Alignment is critical. The quick-release pin should move freely without binding or side load, and the release ring must remain accessible to rescue personnel.
Current UIM and sanctioning-body rules should always be checked when building or modifying a reinforced racing cockpit because requirements can change between seasons.
