The swivel pin bushing plays a critical role in the mid-section of Mercury and Mariner outboard engines by maintaining proper alignment of the swivel assembly and ensuring consistent steering response.
When this bushing becomes worn, it allows excess movement in the steering system, which can result in reduced handling precision and accelerated wear on related parts. Replacing the bushing restores the original clearances and returns the system to its intended operating condition.
This replacement component is manufactured to the specifications of Mercury, Mariner, and Quicksilver part number 23-818764 and is engineered to meet or exceed original tolerances.
It provides the correct interface between the swivel pin and housing, restoring proper fit and reducing play.
The part is suitable for use in Mercury V6 outboards from 75 horsepower through 300 horsepower, including models such as the 75 horsepower three-cylinder, the 90 horsepower EFI, the 115 horsepower four-cylinder, and the 135 and 150 horsepower EFI Verado engines.
It also covers higher output models including the 175 horsepower Pro XS six-cylinder, the 200 horsepower 3.0L EFI, the 225 horsepower Marathon and SeaPro engines, the 250 horsepower Pro XS and XB series, and the 300 horsepower EFI Pro Max and Super Magnum motors. In addition, compatibility extends to the V-series family such as the V-150, V-175 EFI, V-200 EFI, and V-225 EFI models.
The same bushing is also used in Mercury Verado outboards ranging from 135 horsepower through 175 horsepower, and in Force outboards with horsepower ratings between 75 and 120. Because of its broad application, this component is a standard service replacement across a wide range of mid-section assemblies.
The part directly replaces multiple OEM numbers, including 67669, 818764, 986-250, 23-818764, and 8764.
Generally, fits the Triple Ram Swivel Bracket with a 1.50" ID.
Installation during mid-section service or when steering looseness is detected ensures proper clearances are restored, providing improved handling characteristics and extending the service life of the swivel assembly
